The Radio Caroline admission of fraud ....

We were very surprised today when we read an admission of fraud by Malcolm Smith (who calls himself Peter Moore), concerning the enterprises known as a company calling itself 'Radio Caroline' and a hulk called 'Ross Revenge'.

Both of these entities are under the control of Malcolm Smith and both of them claim to be connected to a radio station called 'Caroline' which Smith's cohort Paul Rusling in his plagiarized book called 'The Radio Caroline Bible' has attempted to link back to the venture of 1964-1967 called 'Radio Caroline'. The 1964-1967 station is not connected to Malcolm Smith's own ventures.

While we still await an apology from Paul Rusling, his mentor Malcolm Smith has now posted his own confession on line at:

Got a memory like a goldfish but someone asked about our new charity, Everything that Ronan did had to be ritualised and made complex, mysterious and argumentative.

If he just bought a coffee he would drink most of it and then complain that the coffee was ' burned '. Or he would order cake, eat most of it and then say it was stale. It was all a ploy to get a free coffee and a free slice of cake. Spending tine with him socially was a nightmare. I tried to avoid it If he would tie the most insignificant thing up in knots you can appreciate what he did with the ship.

The vessel ' may ' have been obtained by Northfleet Enterprises of Liberia, an entity that in all probability did not exist. Then Lichtenstein, Switzerland, Canada and Panama entered the picture, including the often mentioned Grothan Steamship or Steemship.

In 2004 my colleague Mike Weston was told that the ship was a prime candidate for major funding, but this evaporated when we stated that we had nil idea who owned her. In 2006 I asked Ronan too finally come clean but he refused to tell me anything and became angry, we decided to let sleeping dogs lie.

By 2014 and sadly, Ronan was in no state to answer questions even if he so wished. We hired marine lawyers and by 2017 they showed that no legitimate owner any longer existed. Revenge was awarded to me.

But nobody is going to give money to make a ship thus more valuable and thus benefit me. So a charity has been formed which is:

MV ROSS REVENGE ( Home Of Radio Caroline ). Charity number 1195589.

This is a trust and the ship has been transferred to the trust and I am one of the trustees. We have a bank account and there is a token sum in it just now. There is no upper limit of course to how much ' could ' be spent on the ship. We are not quite ready to start fund raising.
