Until 1990, the fake story of Radio Caroline had been left to Ronan O'Rahilly to blag on about in order to shield Jocelyn Stevens and the real source of money and reasons (plural) for creating the station. But in 1990 something changed when Ian Cowper Ross, who had been there at the beginning in 1964 with Ronan O'Rahilly and Christopher Moore as puppets in the offices of Jocelyn Stevens, suddenly reappeared to augment the fake story as told by Ronan O'Rahilly by launching a fake add-on of his own. This was achieved in a two-stage program: First by writing a roman-a-clef novel which his mother-in-law Lady Killearn helped to launch with the aid of society magazine 'Tatler', and in the next year of 1991, by appearing in person with Ronan O'Rahilly; Christopher Moore and Jocelyn Stevens, in order to narrate the totally false explanation that his 1990 book was in fact a disguised version of the true story. This was the big lie that Ray Clark in particular has fallen for by engaging in a series of interviews and then by publishing books that are based upon them. Those interviews and books are all founded upon the lies spun by Ian Cowper Ross in 1991 when he claimed that his novel was a recital of true events. It was not, and the true story has yet to be told and will be told in Yesterday Never Happened: The Girl Who Never Was. Ian Cowper Ross, age 23, married a daughter of Lady Killearn in 1966, after Lord Eliot, then age 21, had married Ian's sister, age 20, two years earlier in 1964. It was Peregrine Eliot who had teamed-up with his school pal from Eton, and they, with other friends who gathered on the King's Road, Chelsea, then formed a British company with a U.S. subsidiary, and this group of pals used these companies to pull-off one of the greatest contract deals of all time. That is when Brian Epstein agreed to pay them 90% of all merchandizing income derived from licensing companies that used the name 'Beatles' in their products! The Wall Street Journal at the time estimated that U.S. licensing of Beatles' merchandising could result in $50 million in sales - all aimed at a target of mainly young girls between the years of 7 and 13 years of age: the same girls who provided all those screams! But this is only one part of the story relating to the true background identity of Ian Cowper Ross and it does not explain the source of money used to finance Radio Caroline, but by comparison with the Beatles' merchandising contract, it was small change indeed! The money to fund Radio Caroline came from the printing and publishing industry via contacts with Jocelyn Stevens. It had absolutely nothing to do with Ian Cowper Ross, or Ronan O'Rahilly! This amazing story runs parallel to the start-up of Radio Caroline.
John Bramley Fenton, age 26 in 1964, became the Chairman of Stramsact Limited, a British company which obtained the original contract from David Jacobs, the lawyer (not the eponymous dj) who represented Brian Epstein. At that time Epstein's NEMS company was out of its depth in dealing with merchandise licensing, and in those days few understood how much money could be made from business that was ancillary to the main operation, which in this instance was singing, recording and performing. Fenton was working in the record industry, and he formed a partnership with Simon Miller Mundy, age 22, who was already a "former" accountancy clerk and on the verge of his own financial inheritance. These two joined-up with Mark Warman age 21, and his CV read "in films". Their company called Stramsact Ltd brought more British people into their circle, and together they formed a U.S. version of Stramsact which was named Seltaeb ("Beatles spelt backwards"), and it was incorporated in the USA. Seltaeb Inc., was the most profitable arm of their venture because it held all licensing authority for Beatles' merchandise outside of the UK. Heading up Seltaeb, Inc., was Nicky Byrne as President of the company. He was age 31 and claimed to be a former English racing driver. His wife was Kiki Byrne, a fashion designer. The weight of British aristocracy came from Lord Peregrine Eliot, age 22 who had been managing his family's estate in Cornwall, and Lord Eliot was joined by Malcolm Evans who had been working in the television industry. These four took up residence in New York City. This group had collectively known each other for years. Simon Miller Mundy had attended Eton at the same time as Peregrine Eliot. John Fenton and Malcolm Evans had also known each other for a considerable period of time, and Malcolm Evans at one time had dated Mark Warman's sister. He originally met Nicky Byrne when Byrne was attending Eton, and Malcolm Evans was attending Westminster. It was during this time that Byrne and Evans first met on the football field. Years before, Tony Benn had also attended Westminster, and it was into this privileged inner circle of British society that Ian Cowper Ross was also grafted, after attending, and then dropping out, of another English Public School. During this time as a teenager, Ian Cowper Ross managed to land himself in court, after running head-on into a bus while driving a Jensen sports car and almost losing one of his feet. It was this accident, and the subsequent medical patch-up job, from which he gained the nickname of 'Flipper'. In 1966 Ian Cowper Ross married the sister of Lord Eliot's wife, and supposedly within the pages of his roman-a-clef novel called 'Rocking the Boat', he narrates the details about how the beginnings of their relationship developed into marriage. This is the same book published in 1990, in which Ian Cowper Ross claimed on television one year later, that it is more autobiography than fiction. It was not until 1991 on that BBC-TV program, that Ian Cowper Ross claimed that his novel actually revealed for the first time the true story about the financing of Radio Caroline. His book was promoted by Ian's aristocratic mother-in-law. Her own ties to the "upper crust" of British Society went back by marriage to a Privy Councilor, and by fairly recent ancestry, to a physician who attended Benito Mussolini in the days before World War II. We revealed this back on 4/2/2021, but here it is again ....
This is the sequence that transformed Ian Cowper Ross' fake story about 'Jim Shaw' into BBC-TV 'reality' .... The fake story began with this book launch in May 1990, and it was followed by a March 1, 1991 BBC-TV 'documentary' credited on screen with help from .... .... and this was followed up by Ian Cowper Ross connecting his 1990 novel to the 1991 'documentary' .... This explains how the Anorak world turned fiction into documented fact which all of the many books and magazines that followed on after this date copied: so that 'Jim Shaw' became 'Jimmy Ross' - two characters that never existed. Neither was there any evidence to support Ian Cowper Ross' tale about Ronan O'Rahilly obtaining financing via a 'Jim Ross' in order to create Radio Caroline. Nor was there any surprise on the part of Allan Crawford about the creation of Radio Caroline, because Radio Caroline's first programmes were recorded at 47 Dean Street, the office and studio of Allan Crawford!
Over the years many have tried to fathom the story behind the 1964 creation of Radio Caroline, because it has been, and still is couched in secrecy. Campaigns were staged late in the day during the Sixties to try to save the offshore stations from being legislated off the air. But the problem was that the listeners were being conned!
The story behind the crusade to save the offshore stations of the Sixties became a multitude of endeavors all bordering upon religious fervor, but they all failed. When a devoted number of Anoraks then took over and tried to keep the sound of commercial radio going, they found themselves scrambling for money from real religious evangelists of the worst kind who were trying to con the gullible out of money. Commercial con men were also involved, but conveniently for the Anoraks, the only Radio Caroline criminal case that took place was held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Ronan O'Rahilly made sure that he stayed away. But there were other crooks who the Anoraks did not associate with the criminality of offshore broadcasting, but which the enactment of the 1967 Marine Offences Act only made worse. Until Ian Cowper Ross wrote and published his first roman-a-clef novel in 1990, there were few books on the market about the 1964 origins of Radio Caroline. But when BBC-TV screened a documentary about Radio Caroline's origins in 1991, it featured Ian Cowper Ross claiming that parts of his 1990 novel were not fiction, but a true-to-life account of what happened. That is when the mythology of 'Jimmy Ross' took off like a rocket and it became the accepted true story of what had taken place. But it hadn't. Ian Cowper Ross lied. Now this raises the big question about why Ian Cowper Ross waited until 1990 to begin this new cover-up about events that had taken place in 1964, and another major question about how he was able to get BBC-TV to stage his follow-up propaganda in which he claimed that his novel of 1990, was merely a lightly disguised version of the true story. Those two events opened the floodgates of deception via a never-ending stream of books, including Paul Rusling's 2019 account in a book which he has called 'The Radio Caroline Bible'. 1990 was also the year in which a draconian follow-up law to the 1967 MOA came into action, just as the straggling Anorak supported Radio Caroline from the mv Ross Revenge spluttered to its end after running out of money during the time that its ship ran onto a sandbar. Then began the Malcolm Smith licensed venture called Radio Caroline which Paul Rusling supported by trying to link the events of 1964 to 2019. All of this raises the question about the birth of the 'Jimmy Ross' myth out of the 'Jim Shaw' story as told in the 1990 novel by Ian Cowper Ross. Why then? But more important, why hasn't anyone ever delved into the real story about the birth of Radio Caroline before? We gained access to the legal and financial files behind Radio London; Radio England and Britain Radio, and the myth-makers were forced to admit that our revelations about those ventures totally destroyed what everyone thought that they knew. However, we now know that Don Pierson who created radios London, England and Britain as offshore stations, was himself duped into believing the nonsense originally spread by Ronan O'Rahilly. Back then, O'Rahilly was merely a shill for Jocelyn Stevens. Had Don Pierson known what we now know, he probably would never have gone ahead with those ventures. But he did not know. What we now know is that we have so far only uncovered about 85% of the story about the creation of Radio Caroline in 1964, and what we have now uncovered has resulted in throwing up a pile of new questions about the real story. It now appears that it is not a single story involving one particular thread, but at least a dozen contemporary stories that sort of come together to form a lose confederacy of interests, but the individual groups forming that confederacy all have other individual objectives. Some involved national politics. Some involved geopolitics. Some involved religion. Some involved commercial enterprises of a legitimate kind, and some involved illegitimate criminal activities of the worst kind possible, because they involved not just wanton theft of money, but the taking of life: murder, and no, we are not referring to the Calvert-Smedley affair. Therefore it is annoying (to say the least), to read the idiotic comments of those Anoraks who wish to derail this investigation, because there are many other vested interests who backed the 1990-1991 cover-up, and they are in no way interested in seeing the true story being revealed at last. However, that is exactly what we intend to do. As previously announced, the site at Yesternoir and this one (All About Caroline), are now carrying two different information tracks.
All About Radio Caroline will focus upon Ian Cowper Ross; his 1990 book and his related 1991 appearance on BBC-TV in which he created a totally fictitious storyline of misinformation about the 1964 creation of Radio Caroline. That is the same fictitious storyline that others have copied in various forms and then repeated since that date. Yesternoir will concentrate upon setting out our original research and documented storyline regarding the birth of British broadcasting which led up to the creation of Radio Caroline on March 27, 1964, and its termination on August 14, 1967. A button has been added under the banner of each site to allow for quick access by readers. As mentioned earlier, certain information has now come to light which has caused our own investigation to make a revision to a part of one of our working hypotheses. But in the middle of making an assessment of the new data that would result in a revision to a part of that working hypothesis, a series of continuing events have caused us to put a hold on our revision.
The so-called 'Pirate Radio' web site claimed to be under the control of one Garry Stevens, has, within the last few days made several contradictory admissions, and they have now included a new statement by the plagiarist Paul Rusling regarding our own interaction with him. Rusling has made a statement on line which asserts that we claimed to have had no personal contact with principals involved in British offshore broadcasting, and that statement, as Rusling knows, is totally untrue. The origins of this work began with person-to-person contact involving Allan Crawford; Ted Allbuery; Don Pierson; Tom Danaher; Ben Toney and much later, with Roy Bates and several other key people. Some of this contact developed over a period of many years and it resulted in our team gaining access to a lot of hitherto unseen legal and financial records. That is a fact that many years ago caused Steve England to issue a correction to his own recorded work offered for sale. Other personal contacts resulted in person-to-person communications with many UK government officials such as Barry Maxwell of the RIS/DTI and his investigator James Murphy. Some of that interaction came to the attention of Ronan O'Rahilly via the individuals known as John Burch and Christopher England. In turn, some of that information also involved our own investigation into the 'Radio Caroline Criminal Case' in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania that centered around one James Ryan and the ship known as 'Ross Revenge'. Some of that data certainly supports the views of Neil Gates who presented the last hour of broadcasting from the mv Ross Revenge at sea, "just after 1am on 5th November 1990". Neil Gates is one of the people posting on the Garry Stevens' site, and he is at loggerheads with several trolls. Those trolls constantly promote myths in support of the Rusling/Malcolm Smith fictitious claims about a continuation of 'Radio Caroline' broadcasting from the 'Ross Revenge' - which is now an engineless hulk within British territorial waters and totally subject to the laws of the United Kingdom. But more than this, Garry Stevens has now introduced a new 'Administrator' of his web site which totally supports the view that the Rusling/Malcolm Smith claims are fraudulent, while at the same time excluding Malcolm Smith, but reintroducing Paul Rusling as an 'Administrator'. That is a contradictory position. However, all of this has collided with our own ongoing research into the causation of a series of events beginning in 1990, which was the year that Neil Gates made the last broadcast from the 'Ross Revenge' at sea. That chain of events includes the publication earlier in 1990 of a roman-a-clef novel by Ian Cowper Ross, and his book was followed in March of 1991 by the first airing of a BBC-TV show featuring Ian Cowper Ross. In that TV show, Ian Cowper Ross claimed by referral to its text, but not to the name of his book, that his novel was in fact a disguised version of his own life story. In other words, what Ian Cowper Ross wrote in 1990, he claimed in 1991 to be a true account of true events, and that TV show with the Ian Cowper Ross admission then opened a floodgate of new books all claiming the same thing - but none of them referring to the Ian Cowper Ross novel. Because that 1991 TV show marked a turning point that transformed a 1990 novel into a work of non-fiction - all during the time the Neil Gates was actually broadcasting from the High Seas on board the mv Ross Revenge, the credits shown at the conclusion of that program are noteworthy. The show does not list those who actually appeared but it gives its first line of thanks in the brief credits to Chris Edwards, and his name is followed by George Hare. Clearly there seems to be two different elements at work. One exists to promote the mythology (lies) about a continued storyline linking Radio Caroline of 1964-1967, with Malcolm Smith's current operations, and another version centered around Neil Gates and this new Garry Stevens' (unnamed) 'Administrator' who both refute that connectivity. Our own investigation is not a part of any of this nonsense. We have had a working relationship in the past with both Chris Edwards and Paul Rusling, but our current investigative work is not connected to any other person or group than our own 'Trio'. So until the Garry Stevens' Board sorts itself out and stops publishing two sides of the same story and endorsing both, while pitting its own correspondents against each other, we will continue to regard these childish and totally irrelevant actions as of no consequence to our own investigation, while noting all of those developments. Therefore we will not report on our latest discovery for now, but it will become a part of the first book in the 'Yesterday Never Happened' series with the working title of 'The Girl who never was'. This is a story that has never been put together before, because it puts into context the contradictory stories that have swirled around the 1964 creation of Radio Caroline. In fact, this information is so new that we have had to self-correct some of our own data, thanks in part to the application of our YesterCode which directs us to look for an Event and then interpret that event by a system called 'Orientation Three Times', which is translated as: Chronology; Geography and Genealogy. (For more information about E+O3X please click the button below:) Therefore we will be posting a major revision to today's Blog and suggest that you check back in a few hours from now to read this startling new information!
