When did someone paint the words "Caroline" and "House" on the two main pillars enclosing the doorway at 6 Chesterfield Gardens, and more important: why did they do it?

The second part of that unanswered question is at the very foundation of the issue concerning the true identity of "Radio Caroline" - which was more like an ethereal phantom image and sound, than anything that actually existed in the real world in real time.

"Radio Caroline" did not exist!

But, a lot of people were brainwashed into seeing things that were not part of the real world and they came to believe and parrot a myth as though it was a fact, and they continue to do so to this day. Not only that, but after Ian Cowper Ross reopened the floodgates to this lie in 1990, radio and television producers; academics; journalists and a library of book publishers all began turning up the volume with a chant that "Caroline continues".

In the real world there was no such company as "Radio Caroline" between the years 1964 and 1967 that actually represented the activities taking place on the airwaves and at 6 Chesterfield Gardens (and satellite addresses), under that name. Then came the legal end of the hoax. It occurred at midnight on August 14, 1967, only to be immediately contradicted with a lie by Johnnie Walker, just after midnight. That is when he proclaimed that "Caroline continues"!

No, it did not!

The jig was up and that should have been the end of the matter, except that Johnnie Walker decided to tell a lie, and then, years later, Ian Cowper Ross began a second edition of that lie which contradicted the first version spun by Johnnie Walker. Ian Cowper Ross did not attempt to promote the Johnnie Walker lie, because Ian Cowper Ross concentrated upon promoting the original lie tied to the painting of those words on those two pillars at 6 Chesterfield Gardens.

Ian Cowper Ross laid down the foundation of a belated mythology upon which the Johnnie Walker lie could rest. Ian Cowper Ross gave birth to the legend of "Jimmy Ross"!

Ian Cowper Ross used exactly the same technique that comedian Steve Martin tried to explain in humor, and that is - never move to the second statement - without getting an answer to the first question.

But that is what politicians and anoraks do when they ignore the first question that they cannot answer, and then they move on to a statement of fiction - which they claim as fact, and then build upon it.

So, back to the initial question:

Why were the words "Caroline" and "House" painted on the two pillars at 6 Chesterfield Gardens?

It's not what you think happened that counts, but what actually happened that can be supported by documentation. On July 2, 1964, two independent public relations firms issued the same press release to announce that Radio Atlanta would become Radio Caroline. It did not say that one of them would be called 'Radio Caroline North', and one of them (ex-Radio Atlanta) would be called 'Radio Caroline South, regardless of what transpired after that date.

Then there is the letter by Christopher Moore dated July 16, 1964 which is addressed to dj Keith Martin on board the mv Mi Amigo, home of the the ex-Radio Atlanta.

But look at what this letterhead does not say:

This letter appears on Jon Myer's web site, and the heading merely denotes the original Radio Caroline, minus any mention of a company or directors. It merely tells the recipient to "please reply to 6 Chesterfield Gardens, London W.1." and it provides a telephone number to call. What's missing is any mention of 'Caroline House', or any form of legal identity regarding the singular Radio Caroline.

It is not what one might assume that it says, but what it says, and what it says is not very much at all. The previous address for Radio Caroline was on Regent Street, but again, as hard as the UK Board of Trade tried, they could not find any evidence of a company that represented an entity called 'Radio Caroline' at that address.

If we go by the words of the man (Richard Morecraft) who was later hired to maintain the property at 6 Chesterfield Gardens, well, he seems to have forgotten that it was the property next door at 8 Chesterfield Gardens that hired him. The name of that business was well known and it is reflected in the advertising printed on this book of matches, along with its parent address on New Bond Street:

By "next door", we mean the very next doorway to the left of number 6, if you are facing the front of the building from the street. Yes, we are aware that in this illustration the later telephone numbering system is being used. But unless someone can prove otherwise, from what we have learned, the  'Twenty-One Club' was a satellite "institution" of 'Churchills Club' in 1964, and the police knew both addresses very well for a number of reasons. Not only that but Dick Morecraft said in an interview that he was hired by 'Churchills', and not by 'Twenty-One', but that he had no problem with switching his maintenance work location on to number 6 Chesterfield Gardens on the very same day that he began to work for 'Churchills' on New Bond Street - which implies that all three properties had a common owner. We also know quite a bit about that person as well.

But if brand-name use of 'Caroline' did not begin with a radio station, but with Beatrix Miller circa. 1962, who was an employee of Jocelyn Stevens, then what did the words "Caroline House" which had been applied to the exterior pillars actually mean?

Obviously the primary tenant was also sub-letting 6 Chesterfield Gardens to other entities during the time that the people calling themselves "Radio Caroline" occupied the premises. Were all of the many other entities decamping at 6 Chesterfield Gardens between 1964 and 1967, paying rent to Stevens Press Ltd. so that they could also occupy part of the property?

There were many occupants besides "Radio Caroline" (which did not exist as a company), and one of them was the Robert Stigwood Organisation Limited - which obviously was a registered UK company:

Offshore Echos magazine states that people identifying themselves with 'Radio Caroline' first moved into 6 Chesterfield Gardens on Monday, September 14, 1964. Because this is long after the so-called 'merger' of Radio Atlanta with Radio Caroline', others have disputed this date. But no one has offered any hard proof to support any other date, or even this date. We would like to hear from anyone who has information either supporting or contradicting this date. Please respond via out linked address, or the 'Now and Then' Blog.

It reads "Caroline House" and the number 6 is also shown.

(The date refers to when 'Radio Caroline' began to call this address their home, and both pictures refer to that same date and event.)

The address is 6 Chesterfield Gardens, and it was described in 1964 as being "Caroline House", but it does not say that it is "Radio Caroline House". However, that fact is important to an understanding of what is being shown by these two pictures.

There is ample evidence to show that this was not "Radio Caroline House", but an address that people connected with Radio Caroline began to use.

On September 14, 1964, the day upon which people connected with 'Radio Caroline' began to use this address, there was no such company as 'Radio Caroline'. However, there was a pre-existing advertising promotion operation known as 'Caroline' to which a radio aspect was later added. The relevance of that information is in the question that then arises:

If there was no such company as 'Radio Caroline', then who or what was paying for the lease on 6 Chesterfield Gardens?

Now add this question:

Was there at least one other tenant of 6 Chesterfield Gardens occupying these premises before the people acting under the name of 'Radio Caroline' decided to move in on September 14, 1964?

The answer again is yes, there was at least one other tenant, and they had a prior connection to the name 'Caroline'!

Ian Cowper Ross helped to confirm that in his interview with Ray Clark.

That interview took place long after Ian Cowper Ross appeared on BBC-TV in 1991, and that is where he claimed that his novel of 1990 was a recital of true events, which of course, it was not and is not.

It is because the existing 'Radio Caroline Story' is such a finite tangled web of lies and deceit which seems to have brainwashed everyone into accepting them as fact, that it is necessary to go step-by-step in unravelling this mess.

So look again at the pictures and now what do they tell you?

Why did Ian Cowper Ross write his roman-a-clef novel that was published in 1990?

Why in 1991, why did he turn it into a claimed true account of events?

What events?

Where the money came from in 1964 to fund Radio Caroline!

The trolls have been yelling - no, screaming at us, that no one cares where the money came from in 1964, but in 1991, there was still one entity that was very interested, and more important, due to the sheer stupidity of the very people who have continually yelled 'Caroline continues' after August 14, 1967, (think Johnnie Walker and all the rest of that ilk), they kept resetting the clock on time limitations.

After all, the people who yelled that "Caroline continues", were not the UK government, because the 1967 Marine Offences Act was supposed to have put an end to it, and the MOA did cause the shut down of its management from the heart of Mayfair at 6 Chesterfield Gardens.

But then, another address popped-up in the Netherlands.

The people yelling "Caroline continues" linked the Dutch operation to the the British operation: it was one and the same (they said), because "Caroline continues".

Okay.

"Caroline continues" and its legal home after August 14, 1967 was in the Netherlands ....

Then other addresses popped up.

One of them was in New York City, and eventually that resulted in a criminal case being brought in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and yet, and yet, "Caroline continues" (said its anorak supporters.)

Okay.

So "Caroline continues", (said the trolls.)

Then came Paul Alexander Rusling in 2019, and he wrote "Caroline continues" in his "bible' to aid and assist one Malcolm Smith who said "thank you very much" (or words to that effect). But Malcolm also had a habit of denouncing Ronan O'Rahilly and claiming that Malcolm's version of 'Radio Caroline' had nothing to do with Ronan O'Rahilly.

But you can't have it both ways Malcolm. Rusling says "Caroline continues" in 2019, and you agreed with him, so you can't turn around and say that your 'Radio Caroline' has nothing to do with the original 'Radio Caroline', because it is a "continuation".

Someone brought a problem to the attention of a faction of the British aristocracy in 1990, and Ian Cowper Ross stepped forward like a stooge to "tell all", but in roman-a-clef style. It was just too confusing.

So in 1991, along came Jocelyn Stevens, and he backed-up the dialog on the 1991 BBC-TV documentary 'starring' Ian Cowper Ross. He told viewers the "true story" about the 1964 source of money that put Radio Caroline on the air.

Or did he?

That show started off with Ronan O'Rahilly telling his oft-repeated nonsense about Georgie Fame, but he never spoke about the money. That was left to Ian Cowper Ross who once sat in the office of Jocelyn Stevens while he acted as the spokesman on a 1964 Granada-TV show called 'World in Action". It was Jocelyn Stevens who addressed questions about the money behind that venture.

But in 1991, up popped Ian Cowper Ross with Jocelyn Stevens on BBC-TV and said: "It was my Daddy!"

"Daddy" did it!

In other words, Ian Cowper Ross and Jocelyn Stevens told viewers to forget everything that anyone else might have reported in the past, because it was all down to Ian's "Daddy".

"Daddy" did it!

But who was "Daddy"?

Well, in the roman-a-clef 1990 novel it was a man named Jim Shaw.

But Jim Shaw did not exist, and so an army of trolls turned "Jim Shaw" into Jimmy Ross, who did not exist either, because Ian's "Daddy" was named Charles Edward Ross.

Meantime, a floodgate of wanna-be authors had appeared after the 1991 TV show, and gradually the story of "Jimmy Ross" became oft-quoted fact, instead of fiction. Then, in February 2013, the door was opened once again by Ray Clark, and Ray interviewed Ian Cowper Ross, and of course, Ian Cowper Ross reaffirmed what he had originally claimed on that 1991 TV show in support of his 1990 novel.

But this tale does not stop there!

In 2019, Paul Alexander Rusling added icing to this cake of trouble with his "Caroline Bible", because he established the path that led to the doorstep of Malcolm Smith, and in 2021, Malcolm is still residing under the banner of 'Radio Caroline' (complete with his own filed misstatements on United Kingdom government documents.)

Oh dear, oh dear!

What a sea of troubles (pardon the pun), these folks may be swimming in.

Ian Cowper Ross tried to misdirect attention with a fake tale which the trolls then adopted as their own.

Now who do you think might be interested in this fake claim that "Caroline continues" now that Jocelyn Stevens is off the hook?

1964 - March 27 - mv Fredericia renamed 'Caroline', dropped anchor off the Essex coast and began a test transmission which the next day would resume with regular programming under call sign of 'Radio Caroline'.

Peregrine Eliot married the sister of Ian Cowper's wife-to-be, on October 12, 1964 in London, with the reception being held at the House of Lords. His best man was Simon Miller-Mundy who was about to announce that he had lost a lot of money managing the 'Moody Blues' in a management company that also involved John Fenton, and all three (including Peregrine Eliot), were involved in the Beatles' merchandising ventures called Stramsact Ltd and Seltaeb, Inc.

Simon Miller-Mundy then passed management of the 'Moody Blues' to Brian Epstein who was shortly to commit suicide on August 27, 1967. Epstein's lawyer David Jacobs was discovered hanging by his neck on December 20, 1968. His death was officially concluded to be suicide, but a lot of questions remain unanswered in the tangled mess that engulfed the lives of both Epstein and Jacobs, and these include possible links to the Kray Twins. All of these questions demand answers from those 'in the know' who have avoided telling the truth about any of these interrelated events.

Although there is a lot of implied detail in 'Rocking the Boat' by Ian Cowper Ross concerning the sister of Eliot's wife, it is left to the reader to figure out the roman-a-clef details - which Ian Cowper Ross claimed in 1991 on BBC-TV, includes a true account of how Radio Caroline was financed. It is the aristocratic mother-in-law of both Lord Eliot's wife, and Ian Cowper Ross' wife, who launched the book called 'Rocking the Boat', and she did so at a Society affair covered by 'Tatler' magazine.
